International UFO Museum and Research Center-
UFO Museum and Research Center was organized to inform the public about the 1947 Roswell Incident, when a purported flying disc crashed near Roswell. 114 N. Main Street, 575-625-9495

Spring River Zoo-
Roswell has a wonderful park and modern small zoo in Spring River Park, 1306 E. College Blvd., covering 34 acres of parkland with five main zoo areas located on the grounds. These areas include the Capitan Trail featuring native animals; Children's Zoo; miniature train and antique wooden horse carousel; the ranching heritage exhibit and the World Safari Exotics area. 575-624-6760

Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge-
24,520 acres on the northern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert. Visitors will enjoy wildlife observation, photography, self-guided auto tour, picnicking, hiking, hunting, biking and guided tours to observe endangered species. Reservations required. 575-622-6755

Bottomless Lakes State Park-
The seven small park lakes are bordered by high red bluffs and are bottomless in name only. The lakes greenish-blue color creates the illusion that the lakes are bottomless but they range in depth from 17 to 90 feet. In reality they are sink holes rather than lakes and were formed when circulating underground water dissolved salt and gypsum deposits to form subterranean caverns which collapsed and filled with water. Visitors will enjoy a variety of activities including swimming, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, hiking, bird watching, scenic overlook, mountain biking, camping and picnicking. 575-624-6058

Roswell Museum and Art Center-
Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the museum and art center opened in 1937 and has grown to encompass 12 galleries, the Robert H. Goddard Planetarium and Patricia Lubben Bassett Art Education Center. The museum is acclaimed for its collections of southwestern art and history with works by Peter Hurd, Henriette Wyeth, Georgia O’Keeffe, Marsden Hartley and Luis Jimenez; the Robert H. Goddard Collection of Liquid-Propellant Rocketry; and the Rogers and Mary Ellen Aston Collection of the American West.
