Carlsbad Caverns National Park-
The world that exists deep below the surface in Carlsbad Caverns National Park is a subterranean marvel. Created slowly over the millennia, its beautiful formations awe visitors year round. Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park-
This undeniably unique park allows visitors to learn about the plants and animals that inhabit the southwest. Lincoln National Forest-
Lincoln National forest encompasses 285,000 acres for hiking, caving, camping, picnicking, rock climbing, mountain biking and experiencing the beauty of nature. Open year round (575) 885-4181. www.nmparks.com

Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area
is an oasis hidden in the midst of the desert where a beautiful 150-foot waterfall pours over canyon walls. You will also find picnic tables, charcoal grills, water, restrooms and a paved trail through the canyon ending at the falls. There are 16 miles of canyon land trails for hiking and biking. Pecos River Recreation Area-
Its impossible to believe that great water activities are available in a desert community but here in Carlsbad that is not the case. We have over one thousand feet of waterfront at the Beach recreation area along the Pecos River. The River provides an abundance of opportunities for fun and relaxation. Guadalupe Mountains National Park-
Raising from the Chihuahuan Desert just fifty-five miles south of Carlsbad is the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Viewers will be in awe with the overwhelming vegetation and countless species of wildlife that thrive in the park. Open year round (575)885-4181 www.nps/gov

Brantley Lake State Park-
offers boating, fishing, and water skiing. Plan to stay awhile in one of the primitive or developed camp-sites, get together with friends or family at one of the group shelters, or take a hike along one of the park's natural trails. Open year round www.nmparks.com
